• Emory Police Department (EPD) responded on March 12 around midnight to a request by a Resident Advisor at Longstreet-Means Hall to remove a disruptive male student. The student was from Columbia University, and had arrived unannounced to see an ex-girlfriend who did not wish to see him. The RA was able to escort him from the building without additional problems, after which the student contacted a friend from the Georgia Institute of Technology to take him off campus. The ex-girlfriend said she did not wish to prosecute.
• EPD made an arrest for burglary at midnight on March 12 on Briarcliff Campus. The subject was observed exiting a cottage that had a broken window when the officers arrived. When the officers identified themselves as police, the subject began to run away, but he was apprehended behind the cottage. Officers found a blue Ford van at the location, and discovered copper pipes inside, which appeared to have been cut from the ceiling of the cottage from which the subject had exited. The subject informed the officer that there was another person working with him, and the Dekalb County Police Department canine officer checked the area for any additional subjects, but none were found. The subject’s car was impounded, and the subject was charged with burglary and obstruction because he attempted to escape from the police officer. He was also issued a criminal trespass from the University.
• EPD responded on March 11 at 5:21 a.m. to the 10th floor of the Tower Apartments on Clairmont Campus. A male student there was observed tearing papers off dorm room doors and using loud profanity on the floor. He was not cooperative when officers approached the scene. Because he was not compliant and continued to cause a disturbance, the officers arrested him for public intoxication and transported him to the Dekalb County jail.
