Police Report: October 19, 2010

  • An Emory University Hospital staff member contacted the Emory Police Department (EPD) on Oct. 5 at 5:25 p.m. to report that someone had stolen medical equipment from Emory Clinic Building B. The staff member stated that someone had removed 30 stainless steel freezer racks and one stainless steel step from a locked closet.
  • The facilities operations manager for Emory Clinic Building B contacted EPD Oct. 11 at 2:59 p.m. to report that someone had removed metal fixtures, metal-framed pictures and office equipment from the loading dock at Buildings B and C. The manager stated that the incident took place sometime between Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. The case is now under investigation.
  • An Emory University Hospital staff member contacted EPD on Oct. 12 at 11:41 p.m. to report damage to her vehicle, which had been parked in the Turman Residential Center parking lot. She stated that she had found pine straw and rocks covering the front and back windows of her blue 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The staff member also stated that a pink gooey substance was smeared on the driver’s-side mirror. The dollar amount of the damages is unknown.
  • A post-doctorate fellow called EPD on Oct. 13 at 10:42 a.m. to report the theft of a white transfer hose from the fourth floor of the Winship Cancer Institute. The hose was used to transfer liquid nitrogen from one container to another. The fellow stated that the theft occurred sometime between Oct. 4 at 11:30 a.m. and Oct. 6 at 11:30 a.m. He also stated that the hose was probably taken because it was made of metal.
