Police Record: March 18, 2011

  • Emory Police Department (EPD) officers responded to an alarm that had been set off at Candler Mansion on Briarcliff Campus at March 4 at 1:27 a.m. The officers entered the building and announced their presence but received no response; upon further inspection, others found five students hiding in the building. The students stated that they had entered through a broken window and had come to the location with the intent to use the ouija board they had brought along. The officers cited the students with unauthorized entry into a vacated building.
  • EPD received a report of unauthorized entry into Harris Hall on March 4 at 11:18 p.m. The report came from a student who had ordered food from Hunan Dragon at 8 p.m. that evening. when the student found out that another Harris Hall resident had ordered at the same time but received her food instead, the first student asked the driver about her order, and the driver said that he would soon return with it The first student later went downstairs to wait for the driver to bring her order, but soon noticed him leaving the building empty-handed. when she asked the driver where her food was, he told her he had left it on her desk. Someone else had apparently held open the residence hall’s door for the driver, who had asked other students for directions to the student’s room, where he had knocked on the door and, upon receiving no reply, left the order on the student’s desk. The case has been turned over to EPD for additional investigation.
