  • A staff member at Emory University Hospital reported that a person was sleeping in the trunk of their car on Feb. 5 at 6:29 a.m. Officers responded to the Michael Street Parking Deck and found that the subject was not asleep, but was looking for a book that had fallen between the seats of the car. A security supervisor was made aware of the incident.
  • On Feb. 5 between 5:40 and 6:13 p.m., a staff member for facilities management reported a strong odor of natural gas coming from the 1599 Building. It appeared that someone had been doing construction to the adjacent building and severed a gas line. Atlanta Gas Light was contacted and the DeKalb Fire Department and Facilities Management deemed the area safe. Emory Conference Center is the owner of the property where the construction was being done.
  • Between Feb. 1 at 4:30 p.m. and Feb. 5 at 5 p.m., persons unknown attempted to gain access to rooms 101, 104 and 109 in the Callaway Center. Damage had been done to several computer desk doors in these rooms. There are no suspects at this time.
  • Persons unknown committed an act of vandalism to the third floor bathroom of Means Hall on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. A resident adviser for the hall noticed an unknown individual wrote “This school keeps to many ‘n – – – – – s'” in one of the bathroom stalls. The case is considered an act of intolerance by the University and is under active investigation.
  • A theft by taking occurred on Feb. 5 at 5:45 a.m. after a staff member noticed that their rear window decal had been removed from their vehicle which had been parked on the fourth floor of Starvine Parking Deck. The staff member noticed that the sticker was missing after receiving a ticket at 1:09 p.m. due to the missing decal.
  • A 19-year-old student reported a missing wallet which occurred on Feb. 5 sometime between 2 and 10 p.m. The student told police that the wallet had fallen out of their pocket and included their driver’s license, Emory card, a debit card and $30 in cash. The student’s credit card was used at a gas station on Feb. 6 The case has been turned over to an investigator.
