  • Emory Police Department officers arrived at Woodruff Library on Aug. 31 at 4:15 p.m. and discovered water flooding from room 682. Facilities Management discovered that a water line had burst in the equipment room. Other rooms in the area were affected by the flooding and some of the leak spread to the fifth floor as well. Facilities Management was responsible for getting the system back in order.
  • EPD responded to a report of underage intoxication on Sept. 1 at Few Hall and found a 17-year-old female with slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. She had problems with coordination and balance but denied having been intoxicated. DeKalb County Fire and Rescue transported her to Emory University Hospital and Campus Life was notified.
  • A female staff member reported a case of entering auto that occurred at the Woodruff Residential Center sometime between Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. and Sept. 2 at 1 a.m. When the staff member returned to her 1997 Ford Explorer, she found damage to the passenger side rear cargo window. $290 worth of personal property had been removed from the vehicle, including $60 cash, credit cards and her driver’s license.
  • EPD received a report from a 27-year-old male staff member who stated that he was approached on Clifton Road near the Emory Clinic between 1:15 and 1:45 p.m. by a black male who asked him for his name. He provided his first name to the subject and the individual then asked where he was from. He told the subject that he lived out of the country and the individual then asked for the staff member’s cell phone number. The staff member gave the subject his work phone number. The staff member told police that he did not know the individual but that he had been wearing green scrubs, but had no hospital identification.
  • A 31-year-old staff member reported that sometime between 7:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., someone keyed the right side of his gray 2003 Toyota truck parked at the Materials Center. The cost to repair the damage is unknown at this time.

Friday, March 28

  • A projector was stolen from the Emory University Conference Center sometime between March 12 at 1:55 p.m. and March 13 at 7:30 p.m., when a staff member arrived at the location and noticed the projector was missing. The room had been left unsecured during that time. The value of the stolen property is $1,200.
  • An individual was located on the first floor of the Emory School of Law library at 10:37 p.m. on March 15, after the library had closed for the day. The student was escorted out of the building and the library was secured.
  • Emory Medical Services responded to undergraduate housing on the Clairmont Campus after a student, 20, with a history of fainting spells was struck in the face during a fall.
  • The owner of a white 2007 Pontiac tried to enter the Lowergate Parking Deck on March 16 at 5:54 p.m. when the ticket box fell into his vehicle while he was trying to get a ticket. The cost of damages incurred is $1,000.
  • A female student and resident of Clairmont Campus called Emory Police Department on March 16 at 10:15 p.m. to report a loud, disruptive argument between herself and her ex-boyfriend, who became argumentative and then left the apartment. The female student told EPD that she did not want to press charges but wanted to report the incident. The case has been turned over to an investigator.
  • EPD officers responded to the construction sites of Freshman Halls 2 and 3 on March 19 at 12:40 a.m. Five students – two of which were Emory students – had been setting off fireworks at the location and officers made contact with the individuals outside of McTyiere Hall. One of the individuals told the officer that he did not know that fireworks were illegal in the state of Georgia and that they had been bought out of state. One of the individuals added that they were “just having fun.” The case has been turned over to Campus Life.
