- Emory Police Department received a report of stalking involving an 18-year-old female student and resident of Hopkins Hall. The student stated that between Sept. 30 and Feb. 12, a male subject with whom she had a prior relationship has been sending her text messages and attempting to contact her. The student told officers that their relationship ended six months ago. The subject involved in the incident was last seen on Emory’s campus on Nov. 19. The Division of Campus Life was notified of the incident and the information has been turned over to an investigator.
- A 22-year-old female student has reportedly been receiving harassing text messages from an unknown number. The student reported that the text messages were in reference to a test she had administered on Feb. 19 and Feb. 22. The information has been turned over to an investigator.
- A theft occurred from the second floor of the pediatric clinic on Feb. 22 at approximately 2:20 p.m. A female staff member at the location reported that she left her wallet and purse inside her desk drawer in her office at the location and later discovered that someone had removed her wallet from her purse. Her wallet contained a $50 bill and her driver’s license , and the wallet itself is valued at $25.
- EPD received a third party report on Feb. 22 at 3:45 p.m. The caller stated that a male student broke into her female friend’s dorm room and assaulted her. The assault occurred sometime between Aug. 1 and Dec. 1, but there is no further information available at this time.
- An argument occurred between two Emory students, a 19-year-old female student and a 19-year-old male student, on Feb. 23 at 1:15 p.m. The argument became loud enough to disrupt neighbors in the residence hall. EPD officers responded to the location and made contact with the two individuals. The officer took statements from each student and the Division of Campus Life was notified of the incident.
- EPD officers made contact with a 48-year-old male subject in the Woodruff Memorial Building lobby on Feb. 23 on 5:20 p.m. The subject appeared to be having a conversation with himself and smelled faintly of alcohol. The subject told officers that he was trying to catch the shuttle. Officers made contact with the subject’s brother, who said he would meet him at the Decatur train station. Emory Emergency Medical Services arrived and checked the subject to determine whether he needed any medical help. Officers then waited with the subject until his brother arrived.
- Emory Police Department shut down a party at 692 Lucky Lane on Aug. 26 At 10:35 p.m., EPD asked the residents to cud down the noise level, but after receiving additional noise complaints, the part was shut down at 11:57 p.m.
- A female staff member in the Starvine offices discovered $300 was stolen from the wallet in her desk on Aug. 27 sometime between 8:05 and 8:20 a.m. The information has been turned over to an investigator at this time. There is a suspect in the case who is under active investigation.
- A burglary occurred from the second floor of McTyiere Hall on Aug. 27 between 3 and 4:30 p.m. An 18-year-old male student left his room and returned at 4:30 p.m. and discovered that his Dell laptop was missing. He told police that he did not remember if he closed the door to his room when he left. The case has been turned over to an investigator.
- On Aug. 28 a staff member received an email that stated, “We have your baby” and then asked for $50,000. EPD has received reports of other staff members receiving the same email in both the corporate and education community. EPD believes that these emails are either email spam or a scam. The information has been turned over to an investigator.
- Emory Emergency Medical Services responded to the first floor of Harris Hall on Aug. 29 between 12:30 and 1 a.m. in response to a report of underage possession. A 19-year-old male student at the location was transported to Emory University Hospital for further treatment.
- An 18-year-old female victim placed an anonymous phone call to the Emory Police Department and stated that she had been “stalked” between Aug. 20 and Sept. 1. No other information is available at this time but the victim told police that she did not want to prosecute.
- On Aug. 30 at 4:10 p.m., EPD officers made contact with a 20-year-old student at a traffic stop at the intersection of Asbury Circle and Eagle Row after the student violated the Georgia traffic code. The student presented the officer with two Texas drivers’ licenses. One of the the licenses belonged to an unidentified resident of Texas. The case has been turned over to an investigator.
- A 24-year-old graduate student reported to the Emory Police Department that she was being pursued by a male subject not affiliated with the University. The complainant told EPD that she had met the male four or five years ago. Between 10 a.m. on Jan. 24 and 4:42 p.m. on Feb. 8, he approached her several times in an attempt to maintain a relationship. The male subject had also been asking about her around campus.
- At 2 p.m. on Feb. 7, a 21-year-old student reported to EPD that persons unknown had placed an orange sticker tag on the front window of the 2006 Hyundai leased to the student. The complainant suspected that members of his fraternity may have been responsible for the incident.
- EPD charged an 18-year-old male student with public intoxication on Feb. 10 at 12:30 a.m. The officer was on patrol at Eagle Row when he noticed a DeKalb County Police officer escorting the intoxicated individual. The student attempted to flee from the officer but was identified by EPD officers near the Dobbs University Center a few minutes later. The student admitted to running from the DeKalb County officer.
- A 19-year-old male student told police that persons unknown entered his resident hall and stole $250 from his wallet between 1 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Feb. 12. The student says his roommate may have been out of the room during this time.
- After a brief power outage, a female was trapped in an elevator on Clairmont Campus on Feb. 10 at 3:15 a.m. DeKalb County Fire Department responded and freed her from the elevator.
- A computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse were stolen from an office on the Briarcliff Campus. On Feb. 13 at 1 a.m., a facilities management employee discovered that the items were missing and that other items had been thrown around the room. The scene was processed for prints and has been turned over to an investigator.
